As a culminating project to our unit on graphing, students created their own graph. A rubric was given to each student covering each area of the graph so students were fully aware of their expectations.
They decided what they wanted to survey their classmates about, developed a list of categories, a survey question, and created a tally table to record results.
After surveying students, they decided if they wanted to create a bar graph, line plot, or pictograph to demonstrate their findings. They created a scale after reviewing the numbers recorded, and created a title that told who and what the graph was about, as well as labels for their x & y axis.
Finally, after creating a rough draft, students published a graph as well, and shared their findings with their classmates using the pod document camera. They also are creating a graph using the same data on MS Excel in the tech lab.
